Why should I trade in my items?
This is the official destination for trading in your DÔEN items and we make it easy, fast and fair to get credit for garments you no longer wear. 1. Hand Me Dôen is the easiest way to pass along your DÔEN items. You can simply select items from your order history for trade-in, or search for an item with a description such as, “white dress” – there’s no need to post and manage a sales listing. 2. We offer clear, transparent and immediate trade-in values. Once you’ve selected your item, we’ll immediately tell you what you will receive in credit for each item if it is in acceptable condition. 3. And there is almost no waiting – once you ship your items to us and we approve them, we’ll send you a credit for your acceptable items that you can use towards new or pre-loved DÔEN on our site – there’s no need to wait until your item sells. How do I trade-in an item?
Listing your item is easy, simply click “Sell your item” in the upper right-hand corner, create an account (tip: use the same email you’ve used to purchase from DÔEN so you can see your order history), and go through the trade-in process. Once you’ve added all the applicable information, click “Submit” and print out your shipping label to mail the item back to us.
How do I ship my item?
After you’ve submitted your items for trade-in, you’ll receive an email that includes a prepaid USPS shipping label for you to print and drop off your item at a verified USPS location within 14 days. Your shipping label will expire after the 14th day.
How does the review process work after my item has been received?
Once your item has been received, we review the item to make sure it’s in excellent, like-new condition. We check that: 1. The condition you selected accurately reflects your item 2. The item is an authentic piece 3. The item is freshly laundered
How and when do I get paid?
Each item is priced through our Hand Me Dôen portal — when going through the process, you will be able to see an estimated payout before submitting your item for sale. Once your item is delivered and verified by DÔEN, you’ll receive an email with your credit amount and gift card code. You can also view these details by logging into your account and going to “Your Sent Items”.
How does the store credit work?
We issue store credit as gift cards to be redeemed at DÔEN. You’ll receive the gift card code via email after DÔEN verifies your item(s).
What happens if my item is rejected?
We only accept items that are in excellent and wearable condition. We offer a comprehensive list of conditions in which an item would not be accepted that should be referenced prior to sending in your styles. This offers complete transparency as to what item condition is accepted by the program. As this is part of our effort to reduce our environmental impact, we do not want to receive items that cannot be resold because this creates unnecessary GHG emissions from transporting the items. Should an item be rejected, we do not intend to resell it, but rather remain committed to our environmental responsibilities by repurposing the garment through transparent, domestic opportunities such as remaking/repurposing. Items will never be exported overseas, incinerated, or sent to a landfill.
How much will I get paid for items I trade in?
Our trade-in credit is 50% of the price we will resell the item for, or simply put we split the re-sale of the item. We have individually priced our pre-loved items based on a variety of factors. Our goal is to provide our customers with a fair and competitive credit so that more DÔEN items can be used and loved by more people.
